Pink Asparagus of Mezzago
!

 

Mezzago Pink Asparagus is produced by growing the “Eros” variety, developed at theExperimental Institute for Horticulture in Montanaso Lombardo.

The soil conditions (clayey and rich in iron minerals) and climate of the mezzaghese confer unique aesthetic and organoleptic characteristics, making this product a Brianzaexcellence.

Exposure of the tip to sunlight for a few hours, from sunrise to harvest in the early morning hours, completes the process for the unmistakable pink coloration.

 

The tradition of asparagus cultivation in this area dates back to the beginning of the last century, with a heyday in the 1930s.

After decades marked by a decrease in production, in 2000 the
Cooperativa Agricola di Asparagicoltori Mezzaghesi (CAAM)
, with the aim of recovering and enhancing this unique product, thanks in part to the specialization of local farms led by young entrepreneurs.
